About UsHomeSport Rehab, Inc. is a unique partnership of physicians, physical therapists and athletic trainers. Our company is committed to empowering the individual patient with the ability to assist in the care of their orthopedic and sports medicine related injuries. This is accomplished through an educational, internet based streaming video series used by physicians and physical therapists. The series uses cutting-edge advanced 3-D animation technology to explain to patients the anatomy and pathology related to their condition. These visual images reinforce the rationale for doing their rehab exercises and demonstrate the physical therapy exercises and diagnosis-specific techniques necessary to aid each patient in their recovery. Our videos focus on the “why” of doing a home exercise program as well as the “how” to do the exercises. In addition, non-surgical and surgical treatment options are explained including a discussion of the risks of surgery. The video topics in the series are designed to address the most common conditions seen in an orthopedic office. All video scripts are written by an orthopedic surgeon and reviewed by a doctor of physical therapy. In addition, both physician and physical therapy advisors have reviewed each video script. This peer review process assures the highest content quality of these videos. Our scripts are written in “plain language” rather than “medicalese” in order maximize patient understanding and compliance. The company was formed to meet the increasing need of patients to have a better understanding of their injuries and to encourage them to have an active role in their recovery. The convergence of a number of factors makes this an opportune time for such a video series. Many sports medicine and orthopedic patients desire to be empowered with knowledge about their condition and have an increased role in their recovery. Patients often leave the physician’s office not fully understanding their problem or treatment plan – in spite of the time spent trying to educate them about their condition. Similarly, when patients are sent to physical therapy to learn a home exercise program, they sometimes return to the physician’s office without understanding how to do their exercises properly or the purpose of the exercises. Managed care has created a premium on one-on-one time with patients. Technology is available to vastly improve the quality and flexibility of delivering specific information and education directly to the patient. The HomeSport series provides a customized and convenient solution to address these issues in the doctor-patient and clinician-patient relationship. |
